Can I fit doors in front of the machines?
No, we advise against fitting doors directly in front of the washing machine and dryer. Both a washing machine and a dryer need enough air circulation to work safely and at their best. Closing the appliances off completely can obstruct the air intake and outlet.
Washtower® cabinets are therefore designed so that the appliances have enough ventilation space. That contributes to safe operation, prevents unnecessary heat build-up and helps maintain the performance of the dryer in particular.
Why do doors not suit our cabinets?
The washing machine warranty – fitting doors can put the manufacturer's warranty on the machines at risk, because manufacturers assume free air circulation around the appliance.
Fire safety and ventilation – washing machines and dryers produce heat. A closed door without ventilation obstructs the air circulation needed for safe heat dissipation, so heat can build up.
Mould and smells – moisture that cannot escape leads to mould and unpleasant smells. The appliance door needs to be able to stay open after use so it can dry.
It does not fit – the drum door protrudes slightly, which would mean pushing the machine all the way back. That is not possible, because the base plate is 60 cm deep.
Our anti-tip device – our patented, TÜV-certified anti-tip device can then no longer be fitted in front. This safeguard guarantees that the machine cannot come out of the cabinet, even during heavy spin cycles. Fitting doors voids the TÜV guarantee.
An alternative for a tidy look

Why does the anti-tip device matter?
Our patented anti-tip device is TÜV certified and prevents the washing machine from coming out of the cabinet, including during the spin cycle. Doors would block this safeguard, which voids the guarantee.
