Can I fit a dishwasher?
Yes, in principle you can fit a dishwasher into the base cabinet or the tower, provided you allow for the right connections and for moisture protection. There are a few important points to bear in mind, because a dishwasher gives off hot, damp steam.
What do you need?
Water supply: a cold water tap, usually with a ¾ inch thread.
Waste outlet: a drain with a trap (waste pipe of at least 40 mm).
Electricity: an earthed socket, preferably on a separate circuit.
Space: a recess 60 cm wide, or 45 cm for slimline models.
Watch out for hot steam
A dishwasher that has just finished a cycle gives off very hot, damp steam. Our cabinets are moisture resistant, but they are not made for this hot air. We therefore advise letting the dishwasher cool down properly before you open it, and leaving the door slightly ajar after the programme. That stops the hot steam from putting a strain on the cabinet.
An important limitation
A built-in dishwasher cannot be fitted into a base unit with pre-drilled holes in the door. Moisture can get in through those holes and damage the cabinet. Base cabinets and towers without pre-drilled holes are suitable for this.
Handy tips for installation
Level the dishwasher using the adjustable feet, for proper operation and less noise.
Do not extend the supply or waste hoses yourself with couplings; choose a longer one-piece hose to prevent leaks.
After installation, run a short rinse programme first to check for leaks.
