Can I fit an integrated fridge?
Yes, fitting an integrated fridge or freezer is possible in a tall cabinet 60 cm wide (with an internal width of 56 cm). There are a few conditions to bear in mind, particularly around the recess dimensions and the ventilation.
The right recess dimensions
Recess height: up to a maximum of 178 cm (because of the ventilation).
Recess width: roughly 55 to 57 cm (internal width 56 cm).
Recess depth: at least 55 cm.
Ventilation
An integrated fridge or freezer gives off heat that needs to be able to flow away properly. Without good ventilation the appliance works less efficiently and fails sooner. So make sure you have:
an opening in the plinth under the cabinet for the cold air intake;
enough ventilation space behind the fridge (roughly 200 cm²) by leaving out the back panel;
an air outlet at the top of the cabinet.
Fixing the door
The door of the fridge or freezer can be fixed to the door of the tall cabinet. There are two ways to do this:
Sliding door system: using the hinges of the tall cabinet. The cabinet door slides open over the fridge door on runners. Suitable for lighter doors.
Door-on-door system: using the hinges of the fridge or freezer. The cabinet door is mounted directly onto the appliance door, opens more steadily and closes better. Usually the best choice, including for heavier front panels.
