Can I fit a microwave?

An oven or combination microwave cannot simply be built into our cabinets. These appliances get too hot for the cabinet material. You can certainly use a freestanding microwave, for example on the worktop or on a sturdy shelf.

Why is building one in not possible?

An oven or combination microwave requires a fireproof panel to protect the cabinet from the heat. We do not supply this fireproof panel, which means safely fitting such an appliance into our cabinets is not possible. Without that protection the cabinet material can discolour, be damaged or, in the worst case, create a fire risk.

The alternative: a freestanding microwave

A freestanding microwave always works, even if your cabinets are not suitable for building one in. When positioning it, bear the following in mind:

• Ventilation space: keep at least 10 to 15 centimetres free all around so the heat can escape.

• A firm, flat surface: the base must carry the weight easily and be level.

• Not next to the fridge: the heat forces the fridge to work harder, which uses extra electricity.

• Not next to the hob: fat splashes and steam can damage the electronics.
